Classic style in the interior

Classical style in interior design originated in the distant XVII century. Then it was used to decorate the palaces of kings and nobles. And today it is a style of wealth and prosperity, elegance and luxury. Immediately it should be said that it is realized only in spacious rooms of correct (or almost correct) shape with high ceilings. Apartment design in the classical style is distinguished by the correctness of proportions, a small number of accessories, restrained color scheme.

Characteristic features

The style is based on ancient Greek culture, the influence of which can be traced in most of the characteristic details – columns, pilasters, arches, rosettes, statues. Everything obeys certain rules, no chaos, everything is strictly planned, symmetrically arranged. Objects and elements of decor are proportional, made of natural expensive materials, expensive wood, marble, silk and velvet, well-made leather.

Everything is made in a restrained range. White, beige as a basis, and on their background blue, green, terracotta, noble shades of red, some elements of black and, of course, gilding. Single complementary colors or accompanied by gilding and black. No motley and multicolors.

The floor is simply wooden of expensive wood or parquet, and parquet decorative or palatial. Mosaics and panels with plant motifs from different types of wood. Marble floors with inlay and ornaments are acceptable, but rarely used. As an alternative to marble, you can consider poured floors, close in appearance to marble.

The ceiling is rarely left smooth. Traditionally, it is divided into squares framed with moldings.

If you pay tribute to modern traditions, make modern multilevel ceilings. They can be made of plasterboard, or combined with stretch ceilings. In any case, the designs are multi-layered and symmetrical.

As an additional decorative element, mirrors are used, sometimes on opposite walls. Mirrors can be printed with gilding for a greater effect or they are used as mirror tiles.

Developing the design of the apartment, do not forget about lighting. In the center of the room install a massive chandelier with a large number of pendants. Most often from crystal. The rest of the lighting can be peripheral ceiling lighting (built-in lamps), made with the help of sconces and other wall lamps.

You have probably already noticed that the furniture in the classic design is used good, expensive. Simple lines, classic shapes, correct proportions. It is arranged symmetrically in strict order and harmony. There are no superfluous items, only necessary, accessories are minimal. The main focus on the quality of materials and finishes.

Hallway in the classical style

Classics in the living room

The center of the composition in the living room becomes upholstered furniture. Dark or light, but definitely with expensive upholstery, it is usually grouped around a coffee table. The arrangement is symmetrical with respect to the center of the table and, if possible, with respect to the center of the room.

In the living room there is usually a TV. Most often it is located opposite the sofa. It is placed on a pedestal of characteristic design, on the sides there may be cabinets with ceremonial dishes or other items, perhaps collections of the owners.

In furniture and decoration, “national” tendencies are traceable, which have already been described above.
If you pay attention to the floor, mostly wood is used, and of expensive species. It is not necessarily parquet, maybe a good floorboard. But if parquet, then not with geometric lay-out, but with complex figures. Walls – painted, finished with decorative plaster or wallpapered with a characteristic pattern reminiscent of monograms.

Often in spacious living rooms with high ceilings, wallpaper is pasted in the form of panels. Previously, they were draped with expensive fabrics with silver or gold threads, now they use high-quality wallpaper. Make frames from profiles with a characteristic pattern, inside which glue the cloths. Naturally, the quality of the finish must be excellent.

Window decoration is traditional for this style, heavy drapes with lambrequins and draperies. Often they are tied up, creating a more opulent design. No less traditional and lighting – a chandelier in the center of the ceiling and side built-in or wall lamps.

Bedroom design

The bedroom in this context turns out to be perhaps the most cozy. Priority is given to the bed. It is massive, with a high headboard – carved, upholstered with fabric or leather.

Here gilding can be found most often. In the design, as a rule, white and its shades prevail, and with them gold combines perfectly, without creating a screaming contrast.

To diversify the decor of the walls often make semi-columns, and mirrors are an indispensable attribute of such rooms. Closets in this case put rarely, try to make a closet, so as not to burden the bulky furniture space and do not violate the harmony. Of furniture may be present dressing table with a banquette, bedside tables, a small armchair or sofa. But at the same time free space should be a lot. If the bedroom is not distinguished by volumes, leave the minimum: bed, dressing table, bedside tables.

厨房

Although in the palaces, the kitchen in no way belonged to the front rooms, in its design also have characteristic features of style. It is all the same quality and expensive materials, the principle of necessary sufficiency in the selection of furniture and restrained colors.

The kitchen set is made of wood, can be painted in white, cream or light beige color. In this version, there may be gilding or small elements of additional color used in the rest of the design.
Often there are headsets with a natural wood color or slightly darker, for greater contrast. The main focus is on the texture of the wood. Here on the facades can be a whole picture.

And even in the design of the kitchen try to arrange the furniture symmetrically. In any case, it is logical to place cabinets of different shapes – with closed and open shelves, glazing and without.
Kitchens in this style should also be spacious and with large ceilings. In the center should be a large chandelier, and also with pendants.
To splendor was not too much, the walls and floor in the kitchen – monochrome. It is allowed to use decorative plaster of dim colors.
