How to properly decorate a room for a newborn baby

Waiting for the happy event – the birth of a child – parents try to prepare, and the main question is what should be the room for a newborn. There is nothing complicated in the design, but there are certain features.

Requirements for the room

In a room for a newborn, all finishing materials should be safe. Walls are painted with safe paints (mineral water emulsion, for example) or wallpapered with paper-based wallpaper. Ceilings – whitewashed or painted with the same water-emulsion paint, lined with wooden wagons. The floor can be wooden – painted or varnished, you can lay laminate or safe linoleum.

Another requirement concerns illumination. It is desirable that the windows of the room for a newborn face south or east. Sunlight is necessary for the normal development of the newborn. In this case, the windows should not have gaps, from under them should not blow. But blind sashes are not necessary: daily ventilation is required.

What furniture should be in the room for a newborn baby

For a small child, not so many things are required. At the first stages, the newborn is placed in the room of the parents. Baby crib

By rocking the bed or stroller, he is more likely to calm down. Over time, children get used to sleeping independently. All this is for the case if the nursery is combined with your bedroom. If the baby has a dedicated personal room, a crib is a must.

If you need to buy a crib for a newborn, then a good option will be a model with bottom height adjustment. In the first months of life, the bottom is exposed in the highest position. So it is easier and more convenient to lay and raise newborns. As they grow older and increase mobility, the bottom is lowered so that the baby does not accidentally fall out.

There are rocking cribs. In them, of course, it is more convenient to rock children. But they quickly get used to it and then it may happen that you need to push the crib all night – only so children agree to sleep. So you should be more careful with this.

Now about canopies and capes. No doubt, they look cute, but doctors unanimously advise against them. They interfere with normal air exchange, delay the sunlight necessary for the child, and even collect dust. All this is true, but if the mom is very much like, you can buy and crib with a canopy, only it will be necessary to wash it regularly, at least once every two weeks exactly.

It is also important to choose the right place for a crib. It should be placed so that it looks into the sun, but not under the window, not near the battery, and also not in a place where drafts can walk.

Swaddling table

In principle, it can be two separate items, but it is much more practical in this variant: on the dresser is made a cover in the form of a changing table. This is convenient for caring for the child: everything you need is at hand.

If you are still pondering whether you need a changing table at all, because diapers remain as baby linens, then it’s for nothing. You will need to change your baby often. It is more comfortable to stand up straight rather than bending over or sitting on the bed/sofa. Standing is much faster and more comfortable, which is what changing tables allow you to do. Also the sides, nailed on three sides of the perimeter, will not let the child fall.

Closet for baby clothes

The room for a newborn up to 6 months can do without a closet – everything is included in the dresser. But after six months, the closet is already necessary. It can consist of two sections – in the upper part of the shelves for clothes (necessarily with doors so that things do not dust), the bottom can be sliding drawers – for toys.

This furniture will serve you further, so pay attention to the corners. It is desirable that they were rounded. Grown-up chado should not have the opportunity to seriously injure themselves during games. Well, and the design should be strong and stable, and materials (including paint) safe and designed specifically for children’s rooms. Sofa or armchair

This piece of furniture is necessary for adults, and first of all – mom. The specific choice – sofa or armchair – depends on how you prefer to feed the baby – sitting or lying down. Armrests for this should be high and preferably – soft. If you do not find anything suitable, take the most acceptable option, and comfort will provide cushions.

There are also rocking chairs and some designs are really comfortable. But they take up a lot of space, so that not even in every room can be placed. And note that when the child learns to crawl, the chair will need to be removed. Its unstable design can be dangerous for the baby.

Developing a design

When decorating a room for a newborn, first of all, it is necessary to focus on what the baby’s mother likes. He is very sensitive to her moods and will feel good if mom is happy. There are a few tips psychologists, to which it is worth listening. First of all, it concerns the color. When decorating a room for a newborn, choose non-bright, gentle pastel shades of any of your desired colors. Too saturated colors put pressure on the psyche and the mother and the baby.

Often the walls in rooms for small children make monochrome, and this is not accidental. Psychologists believe that a large clear pattern can scare the child, so the walls are either monochrome or with a small dimly expressed pattern. Leave the plots from cartoons for the time when the baby grows up a little. Until then, he feels better in such an environment.

It is also necessary to talk about lighting. It should provide illumination of several zones. In addition to bright overhead light, you need a subdued light, as well as a night light, which only slightly disperses the darkness and does not interfere with the child’s sleep. To make the light convenient to control, you can turn on the lighting through the pass-through switches. They make it possible to turn on/off the light from several points. In the nursery it will be convenient to have one point of control near the door, and the second near the chair or sofa, on which the mother will feed the child.

How to decorate the room to welcome a newborn baby

Decorate the baby’s room should be so that the mom likes it. No matter how much you want to, but flowers in the baby’s room is not a good idea.
