One convenient way to store clothes is with a floor rack. You can put it at the entrance and leave your outerwear here. Other models are more suitable for bedrooms, dressing rooms, children’s rooms.

Types of floor hangers and their location

What materials are made of

Floor hangers are most often made of metal or wood. Both of these materials are strong, plastic, durable and relatively inexpensive. Some parts – plugs, parts of hooks – can be made of plastic.

Plastic inserts are more often found on metal hangers with a lower cost. If the plastic is not made of elements of the supporting structure, it is not bad and such floor hangers can be bought without thinking. If the elements of the supporting structure are made of plastic, it is better to look for another model.

Metal hangers

The largest selection of floor hangers made of metal. Usually they are made of thin-walled tubes of round or square cross-section. Metal is used most often black, covered with a protective coating. It can be paint (most often – powder spraying), nickel plating, chrome plating. In recent years, there is a new protective coating – plastic film (PVS). This is also a good option, as the film is impermeable to moisture and air. Such products are easy to care for, as the surface is smooth, without pores.

If the floor hanger will serve for placing heavy winter clothes, when choosing pay attention to the thickness of the metal. The minimum in such a case is 1 mm. If the description of the product does not specify the thickness of the wall of the tube, most likely the wall is very thin and suitable for light clothing. Indirect signs that will confirm your guesses are the weight of the product and the price.

Wooden

Wooden hangers can be chiseled from an array, or they can be prefabricated. The first option is much more expensive. Prefabricated is 2-3 times cheaper, but not too different in appearance. The presence of joints in products of normal quality are hardly noticeable, so that with a limited budget is quite possible to buy economy class products.

Wooden floor hangers are well sanded, covered with a protective coating. Usually lacquer or oil is used. Lacquer creates a protective film on the surface so that it is easy to care for such products. Wood oils do not create a protective film, but they protect not worse. When treated with oil, the structure of the wood is clearly visible – all the fibers, the pattern.

Standing clothes hangers in the hallway

Floor hangers for outerwear in the hallway most often represent a rod, on which at different heights in a circle are planted hooks for clothes of different length and shape. For stability, the design is equipped with a round (rarely – square) weighted base. They can be made of wood or metal.

The height of the rack is 150 cm or more, and the base is a circle with a diameter of 35-45 cm. To make the rack was stable, you need to pay attention to the fact that the bottom part was weighted. Still, such designs require careful attention: hang clothes evenly. Otherwise, the hanger can fall.

There are floor hangers for outerwear of this type, but made in a different way. Several pipes or metal strips are bent with a certain radius. At the same time, the upper part is smaller than the lower part. Such a design is more stable, but requires more space, which in a small hallway is not always possible.

In some cases, a floor rack on wheels is useful. It is easy to move it from place to place, without removing the hanged clothes. There are children’s models of floor hangers of this type. They differ only in height and more “cheerful” coloring. More children’s floor hangers can be made of plastic. Children’s clothes weigh not so much, so the strength of plastic is more than enough. And for the price of plastic floor hangers are the most inexpensive.

For those who receive guests in large numbers it can be problematic to place their outerwear. For such cases there is a folding rack under the hangers for outerwear. When folded, it takes up very little space and can be stored in the closet.

Floor rack for a suit

The problem of storing a business suit is easily solved with the purchase of a special floor rack. It is somewhat similar to the racks, only with special shoulders for the jacket and a crossbar for pants.

There are racks for a suit made of wood, metal and plastic. Plastic in this case is not bad: the load is not expected to be large, so the strength of modern plastics is more than enough.

If we talk about useful options, it is a shelf or a casket. It is convenient to store business trifles in it: glasses, cufflinks, wallet, car keys, etc.

Put floor hangers for a suit usually in the bedroom, in the dressing room. It can be convenient to have a similar device in the office. There are different models, you can pick up under any style of interior. And some options look like a designer decoration.

Hanger-chair and hanger-tumbochka

There are quite unusual models of hangers. They are combined with pieces of furniture. For example, there is a hanger-chair. Models are different: with a hanger for a suit, just a rod under the shoulders or with a rack for outerwear. For small apartments, this is a very good option. It takes up as much space as an ordinary chair or banquette, and it also serves for storing clothes.

Another option: a nightstand with a coat rack. The lower part of such a floor rack is much heavier than its upper half, so it will not turn over from a couple of hung coats. The second plus of such furniture is the optimal use of space. The trouble with all floor hangers is that the bottom 50-60 cm remain unused. This is not the case with the hanger-tumbochka. This is another good way of rationalizing space for small hallways.
