Crafts from tires: beds, flower beds, figures, garden furniture

It is always nice to make something useful out of a throwaway item, and if the craft turns out to be beautiful – the pleasure is double. One example is crafts from tires. They make decorations for dacha or garden plot, different vases and flowerpots, build children’s attractions and even make dacha furniture – tables and chairs.

Flowerbeds and flower beds made of tires

Let’s start with the most, perhaps, the simplest flowerbeds and flowerbeds. Do you think it is difficult to make a tiered flowerbed? Maybe, but not from tires. Take a few pieces of different sizes, paint them in bright colors and put them in a slide – one on top of the other. To make your slide did not fall apart, fasten the inside of the tires with a screwdriver and self-tapping screws. Two per connection will be enough. Pour soil inside and plant plants. To keep the soil from spilling out, you can cover the tire inside with a piece of geotextile. It will drain excess water, but will not let the soil spill out. A beautiful tiered flower bed is ready.

If you like flowerbeds of the right shape, you can make and such. For example, folding from the tires of the bed in the form of a daisy. First lay out and fasten together the tires in the lower tier. Fill with earth the middle of the tires, as well as the free space inside the circle. There for better drainage can be laid broken bricks or other construction debris, top a little sprinkle with earth and tamp. On the prepared surface, indenting from the edge more than half the diameter of the tire, lay out the second tier. They are also fastened together, the middle is filled with soil, and the core is placed on top. At the very top you can plant high-growing flowers, and on the lower tiers – border or low-growing.

What to cut tires

In general, making crafts from tires, they often need to be cut. This is far from easy. More or less easily you can cut the side surface from the tread. People with strong hands and good knives do it by hand. A good workout for the hands and the whole shoulder girdle, by the way. If you are going to cut with a knife, lubricate the blade with solidol: rubber constantly “jams” the metal, and covered with grease, the blade slips out well.

You can also cut the sidewall with an electric jigsaw or a bolgar. Cutting with a bolgar is relatively fast, but the stench is wild. Therefore, even if there is a bolgar, make only the first cut, so that it was possible to enter the saw of the electric jigsaw. Further work with this tool. For cutting rubber take a blade with a reverse tooth made of good steel.

If you have to cut the tread, it is useless to do it with a jigsaw or even more so with a knife. In any case, an ordinary knife. Blades of special steel can cut even iron cord, but hardly anyone wants to disfigure such a tool on an old tire. Therefore, work most often with a bolgar. To avoid trouble, the tread is fixed: always think about safety. If the sidewalls are already cut off, the tread strip is quite elastic, it can be compressed with a clamp. Vason from the wheel: turn out the tires

If there is a tire with an old wheel rim, from it you can make a vase for flowers on a foot.

To do this, cut one sidewall along the tread. And turn it out. This is not an easy job: it requires a lot of physical strength and persistence. Rubber is elastic and it is not possible to turn it out from the first time. If absolutely no way, on the outside make notches across the tread. They should be quite deep, but not through. It will also help if you make cuts along the edge of the depth of at least 5-7 centimeters. They will look like a fringe on the turned out tire.

Why everted? The inner surface is smoother, and the shape can be more interesting, especially if the edge is not linear, but serrated. You will get a gracefully bent decoration.

In a similar way, you can turn out and a tire without a wheel rim. The sequence of actions is the same. First cut off one of the sidewalls – straight or zigzag. To “petals” were even, it is desirable to mark them. It is convenient to do this with chalk. On the mark then cut with an electric jigsaw or knife (if the cord is synthetic).

Turn it out like this: step on the inside of the tire, take the edge with your hands and pull up and towards yourself. It is important to achieve the first result: when at least some part of the tire bent. If the tire looks like in the photo below, it is already a success. It is developed by successively turning out the edge and standing on the part that has already been turned out – so that it does not turn out again.

Even by itself such a tire turned inside out looks good. If you paint it, it becomes even better. If desired, they can be combined – different colors, sizes, differently installed: on the tire or on the legs.

It is always beautiful to look high flowerbed. Especially with ampel plants. It can also be made of tires, and there are several possibilities. In the photo below are two ways to fix the cut tires at different levels. The first is to use stumps for this, to which nails or self-tapping screws to fix the vases. The second – to use rebar – three four bars, on which to put the rubber. Having exposed at the right level of the tier, it needs to be fixed, on the metal it can be done only with the help of clamps.

It is not always possible to put a vase on the ground: some areas are so developed that one square meter is problematic to allocate. In this case, people have invented various hanging vases and also – from old tires. From a whole tire remains only a small part, so you have to cut a lot … have patience. Crafts from tires for the garden

People’s imagination is boundless and they make amazing decorations from old car tires. The most common crafts are figures of birds and animals. And the most favorite, perhaps, the character – a swan. It turns out to be graceful and similar, especially if you know some tricks.

The main task when making figures for the garden from tires is the correct marking. For example, those swans in the photo above, the head is not quite correctly cut out. It can be made more believable by making a sharp beak. An example of cutting a tire is in the photo below. Cutting such lines is certainly harder, but the result is impressive.

Along the lines drawn, the tire is cut, then turn the wings outward. At the same time, the neck bends quite steeply. To be able to change this bend, a metal plate can be screwed to it with self-tapping screws. When everything is covered with paint, nothing will be visible, and the inclination of the head can be changed, which is also quite relevant. Often the swan is “planted” in a nest from another car tire. Then it must be attached with self-tapping screws: the figure must hold well and be stable.

There is one more improvement – wings. They can be left as they are, you can cut out of rubber “feathers”, and you can make feathers from white plastic bottles (one liter bottle makes 6 feathers), attach them to the grid. It will turn out then such a bird …

By a similar technology, you can make numerous figures to decorate the site or garden. The easiest way to make a frog: the body – one or two tires painted in green, legs can be made from scraps of sidewalls or other materials, eyes – whoever comes up with what – someone even made from plastic cups or small tires, apparently from a baby carriage.

You can make from tires attractions for the playground. Especially a lot of exciting crafts turn out for boys: self-propelled vehicle, cannon, cars, tractors…they will definitely like it.

Garden and dacha furniture from tires

It’s hard to believe, but even furniture is made of tires: poufiks, tables, chairs. all this can be made from an old tire. The easiest way to make poufiks: put several tires identical in diameter (or not) one on top of the other, fasten from the inside with self-tapping screws. Fill the upper one with dense furniture foam, sew and put on a cover. If desired, you can attach legs: at least furniture wheels screwed on. On the wheels and move easier and the floor does not dirty, the second way out – to fix the bottom felt (on staples from a stapler).

Below are step-by-step photos, which depict the main stages of creating a table or poufik from the tire. You will need two more circles of plywood or fiberboard of a suitable diameter, for finishing is used hemp rope. From improvised materials will need glue and glue gun, as well as varnish and a brush for its application. To connect the circles to the tire will need a screwdriver and self-tapping screws – pieces of 8-10 per side.

Next, we take a glue gun and warming up the glue, we apply it to the sidewall. If there is no such luxury in the household, take glue, which is in a tube of larger size, like “liquid nails”. It is easier to work with a mounting gun. Apply a strip on the sidewall, glue the hemp rope. So – all the way to the top.

Using the same technology, decorate the cover of the table (poufik). Start stacking from the middle: apply glue, lay the rope.

The end of the work is the application of varnish. We do it slowly, soaking well. This is what you should get as a result. If you made a table, you can put glass on top – rope, even varnished, is not the best covering for a table, although it is beautiful….

Variety can be achieved through the cover. It can be sewn from a favorite dense material.

It can be knitted – coarse knitting looks interesting.

If you don’t want to sew and knit, you can use old knitwear cut into strips. They are cut into long strips 3-5 cm thick, rolled into balls and then wrapped around the poufik. It turns out interesting, especially if several colors are combined.

If you need a poufik taller, twist two tires together with self-tapping screws, and in this form with them work further.
