What’s new?

Someone may say that Neptun Smart Tuya system is a repetition of Neptun Smart+, but still not quite so. The main components included in the water break protection kit remain unchanged, but a new element has been added – the Tuya expansion module.

The module is used to integrate Neptun Smart+ system into Tuya cloud service and control the system with Tuya Smart mobile application.

Tuya is an IoT – internet of things – platform, an ecosystem for connecting smart devices with embedded technologies to interact with each other or with the external environment.

But Tuya Smart is not available in the App Store and Google Play in Russia, but it can be downloaded as a separate file with “apk” extension for installation on mobile devices.

To install on PC, download android emulator for PC with “apk” extension and install the program.

Instead of Tuya Smart, the App Store and Google Play services suggest installing the Smart Life – Smart Living app.

“Smart Life – Smart Living” is a Tuya Smart doppelganger program and it is the one that is recommended for installation. Next, we will take a look at what is the difference between the two.

Tuya and Smart Life are compatible with the systems:

• Neptun Smart+.
• Neptun Smart.

Together with the main application install one of the following programs: Alexa, Ya.Alisa, Google Assistant, Apple Siri (for iPhone). Virtual voice assistant will give you the opportunity to use voice commands.

You need to create an account for each program. Only one of the programs can be used to control the equipment. It is not recommended to control the system from two applications at the same time.

Tuya Smart or Smart Life – Smart Living

The main difference in the applications that catches the eye is the color, otherwise “Smart Life – Smart Living” is a copy of Tuya. Why do you need a doppelganger of a popular program? It’s simple, Tuya is the basic version of the platform, with a standard set of device management tools.

Smart Life – Smart Living app is more versatile and has additional features. They are provided by the IFTTT (IF This, That) function, which is able to create a chain of conditions.

In practice, it will look like this – if the 3rd sensor is triggered, the first group of taps must be closed. That is, the setting of the system against leaks will be more accurate. Why shut off the water in the whole house, if it is enough to close the bathroom faucet.

Connection

Before connecting, install the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. Register in it and proceed according to the instructions.

Neptun Tuya can be connected to your smartphone via Wi-Fi in one of two modes – EZ or AP.

Connection in EZ mode is called simple, and the connection between the main module of Neptun and the smartphone is made through a router (router). This is the case, for example, when due to poor Wi-Fi connection, an “Ethernet” board is installed and the “Neptune” control unit is connected to the router with a network cable. In this case, the wireless sensors communicate with the control unit via the router.

Connection in AP mode means that the Neptun leakage protection module will work as an access point.

Neptun Smart Tuya features

The Tuya expansion module is installed in any of the slots. The device connects via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi to the router to access the internet. This makes it possible to control the Neptun Smart leakage protection system using a smartphone with any OS – Android or iOS, via Tuya Smart or Smart Life application. Neptun equipment can be added to existing devices in Tuya-based smart home management or create your own ecosystem of connected devices based on this service.

The device performs the following functions:

• Blocking of water supply when any sensor is triggered by moisture.

• Control of readings of HTW and DHW meters.
• Sending push notifications to a smartphone.
• System control via smartphone.

This module is installed only in slot 1. Settings are made automatically by DHCP protocol.

Equipment

The purpose of using the device is to automatically prevent flooding of a room in case of a break in the water supply and heating systems. Neptun kits for flood protection differ in composition and diameter of taps, which will determine its price.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Neptun Smart Tuya, here are some characteristics.

Neptun Smart Tuya control module is similar to Neptun+, therefore the slots for expansion boards are the same.

Ethernet board

If it is impossible to connect to the router via Wi-Fi network, the connection can be realized via Ethernet expansion board.

When using the Ethernet expansion module, connection to the Neptun Smart+ unit via Wi-Fi is blocked.

Wireless sensor module

In the basic configuration of Neptun Tuya, only wired sensors can be connected. If it is difficult to install a wired system in the apartment, an expansion board with wireless sensors should be purchased.

RS-485 unit

RS-485 expansion module is designed for connection to automated control systems operating under MODBUS RTU protocol. Data transfer rate from 1.2 kbit/s to 921.6 kbit/s, without parity.

Counter expansion board

2 meters can be connected to the module. Water consumption readings are read from the meters and stored in non-volatile memory. The data from the meters are updated every 10 minutes.

Additional sensor unit

Increase the number of sensors or organize an additional zone of water leakage monitoring will help “ProW Wired Sensor Expansion Unit”.

The number of sensors to be connected depends on the Neptune main control module and varies from 20 to 375 sensors.

Increasing the number of taps

In addition to radio sensors it is possible to increase the number of taps. To do this, you need to purchase a “ProW tap connection block”. Using the block will allow you to create a separate zone, and connect taps from other manufacturers, if the method of their connection is similar.

The basic Neptun Tuya system is compatible with ball valves:

• Neptun Aquacontrol 12 V.
• Neptun Bugatti 12 V.
• Neptun Profi 12 V.

After adding an additional valve control unit to the system, other models will be available. Depending on what voltage is applied to the power strip, it is possible to connect cranes with voltage of 12 or 220 volts.

GSM module

GSM-controller CCU706-SN will be useful in case of bad internet or its absence. Using a SIM-card of any mobile operator, you will always have feedback with Neptun Smart/Smart+ leakage protection system.

In case of problems in water supply or heating, GSM controller will send SMS message, notification to Viber or Telegram messengers, or make a call to your phone. The desired notification is specified in the controller settings.

The warranty period for the equipment “Neptune” is 10 years, which is a long time. It is difficult to keep a paper receipt or warranty card for such a long time, and without these documents warranty repair will be refused.
