How to organize a closet inside

In our homes we have to solve a difficult problem – we have to fit a lot of things into a relatively small area. For this reason, we try to make the most of every centimeter of space. A striking example of this is the use of sliding doors in furniture instead of swinging. Another example is the filling of the closet compartment. Properly selected it allows you to use the entire available volume, not just the area.

Organization of the internal space of the closet

To properly organize the internal space of the closet, it would be good to know what can be put there at all. Most often the set consists of several shelves, a compartment under the shoulder pads for clothes. There may still be drawers. These are the most common types of stuffing, but far from the only ones. There are also special hangers for pants (trouser hangers), skirts (skirt hangers), holders for belts and ties, special shelves for shoes (shoe hangers). And they can be stationary and retractable. They allow you to more compactly place clothes of a certain type and it is always in the allotted place.

All these devices are called the hardware of the closet or components, but most often the phrase “filling of the closet compartment” is used. It more accurately reflects the essence – these are various devices for organizing the space inside.

Hangers and crossbars

Crossbars under the hangers can be located parallel (1, 2, 4) or perpendicular (7) relative to the closet doors. It is more convenient when the bar is parallel to the door – you can see all the things that hang on it. But in this case, the depth of the closet can not be less than 60 cm – hangers with clothes take up just that much space.

If the crossbar is located perpendicular to the door, the closet can be less deep – 40-45 cm. But in this case, only the first thing is fully visible, all the others are hidden behind it. Their disadvantage – fixed dimensions, which will have to be taken into account when planning. Although, a small error can be corrected due to the slats on which these shelves can be stacked.

Pull-out drawers, too, can be made of particleboard or mesh. The advantages-disadvantages are the same. In some cases, mesh drawers are called baskets. Lightweight and convenient, they do not accumulate dust.

Devices for compact placement of things

More often than not, there is not enough space in the closet. Even if they have a decent size. Therefore, the filling of the closet compartment try to develop so that the available volumes are used rationally. For example, instead of traditional shelves for shoes (mesh or chipboard) you can put a sliding shoe rack. They perfectly accommodate low shoes – shoes, sandals, boots.

Planning the interior: technical points

The fact is that the doors are not exactly 1/2 or 1/3 of the width of the closet, but a little more. Specifically – more by twice the width of the profile. That is, if you have three doors in a 180 cm wide closet, then opening one of them, you will get free space is not 60 cm, but less.

Therefore, the width of drawers (and sections in which they are built) should be slightly less than the width of your doors.

And the second point concerns the depth of the cabinet. If a pantograph or clothes hanger is installed, the minimum width is 60 cm. When installing a retractable coat rack for hangers, 45 cm is enough. But note that the retractable design itself should have no more than 40 cm in length – you still need space for freedom of movement of the doors.

What departments should be

Conventionally, the entire height of the wardrobe-compartment can be divided into three zones: lower, middle, upper. In the lower zone usually place shoes, some types of household appliances (vacuum cleaners, for example). At the top, most often make high shelves-antresols, which are used to store things that are rarely used. There you can also remove the same non-seasonal things.

How to organize a small closet inside

Any filling of the closet compartment in the vast majority of cases has a certain number of shelves and departments for hangers. This is the simplest option and the most economical. Usually they are two-door – the recommended width of the door leaf – no more than a meter, which in this case is observed. The smallest closet coupe – with a width of a little more than a meter. They are usually installed in the corridors of small-sized apartments. Two doors are also made and in the case where the length is slightly longer – up to 180 cm.

If the width of the closet is 180 cm or a little more – about 2 meters, most often divide it into three sections. Also these models are called three-door, because most often the number of sections coincides with the number of doors. With a width of 2 meters, each of the sections turns out to be about 60 cm wide (taking into account the partitions). This is quite a convenient format – not too wide and not narrow, with such a length of shelves will not have problems with sagging chipboard even if its thickness is 14 mm.

When increasing the length of the cabinet to 270 cm, it can still be three-door – the door width is still less than a meter. But at a great height, such doors are already quite massive and require good hardware (guides and wheels should be of good quality, so that the sliding was smooth ). So even with a width of more than 240 cm you can plan 4 doors. At the same time, there can be three sections. Just to access each of them will have to move two doors.

The first and third sketch consist only of shelves and a compartment for clothes on hangers. The space is distributed differently, but there are a lot of shelves. All others have added drawers and/or lattice baskets.

Drawers can be located at the very bottom. By resting on the bottom they give the whole structure increased rigidity. But the bottom drawers are not very convenient to use – you have to bend down low. Therefore, more often they are raised higher, so that they are approximately at a level above the middle of the thigh or at the level of the waist. But in this case it is necessary to reinforce the lintel under the bottom drawer – to give more rigidity to the whole structure.

Pay attention to the mezzanines – the upper compartments. In the above versions, they have the same size as the sections, but it is not necessary. If necessary, one mezzanine can be located above the two sections. It is only important to correctly calculate the thickness of the material for the shelf, so that it does not sag.

Closet compartment for 3 meters

With the length of the closet coupe in z meters, sections are made 4, and the doors can be more. There is more space, but there is no special difference in the stuffing. Just more of the same shelves, pantographs and drawers / baskets. There can be so many combinations. You choose the option that suits you best, but it can be changed – under your requests and tastes.
