Furniture

A set of furniture in a child’s room is not very different: you definitely need a bed, a closet or storage system for things and toys, a table, shelves on the walls – that’s all, perhaps. With age there is a “repurposing” of some items of furniture and / or change in appearance, selected more age-appropriate design.

For young boys, it can be problematic to move from a familiar crib to a large and unfamiliar one. To solve the problem, buy a bed designed in the form of a car, a ship, something that is sure to please him. Thankfully, today they cost no longer crazy money – domestic manufacturers are trying, and the prices are quite acceptable. In extreme case, you can order details of design and attach them to the sides of the existing bed. But such “themed” beds are good only at a younger age, after a few years you will have to buy something else. Two-story beds are popular among schoolchildren. Even if the sleeping place is necessary only one. On the first floor then is placed a play area or a workplace (depending on age), and on the second floor – the bed itself. In general in the room of boys unnecessary items are contraindicated. They are active, move a lot, the more free space, the better they feel.

Window decoration

Options are not so many – Roman, roller, Japanese curtains and blinds. Here, perhaps, everything that will not interfere with them. If you absolutely need tulle, then a simple, with a geometric pattern or without it at all, and the length, preferably, on the window sill and no lower. This is what the ideal window looks like from the point of view of growing men.

Color curtains – usually in tone with the main color of the whole interior, but can be one of the bright colors – it all depends on the overall style. In this part of the design of a children’s room for a boy – not the most exciting occupation. There is simply no room for fantasy.

Lighting

Normal illumination – a mandatory requirement for the development of the child and preserve his health. And the lighting system of the children’s room should be designed with this fact in mind. In addition to the central chandelier (or several ceiling lights), at least there should be a table lamp and a lamp near the bed. Smaller children may need a nightlight – it can be difficult to overcome their nighttime fears in the dark.

A desk lamp for students is essential. It should be comfortable – with the ability to adjust the height and angle of inclination. These are lamps on a flexible long rod or consisting of several movably connected segments that allow the light source to move within wide limits.

There is another way out – to make ceiling lighting throughout the area, but develop a scheme so that it is possible to turn on/off certain areas of illumination.

Interior, reflecting hobbies

The easiest way to make the design of a children’s room for a boy unique – to reflect the child’s hobbies. This is not as difficult as it seems. Each of the hobbies has characteristic colors and accessories, here they will have to be used.

Your child loves soccer? The bed can be decorated in the form of a gate, on the wall – the corresponding image, several baskets for balls, shelves for trophies and photos. The interior is ready.

If just a child likes active games, make a buffet wall with different projectiles – ropes, handrail, etc.

Room for a teenage boy

In principle, all the recommendations described above are preserved. The peculiarity is that you actively need to involve your grown-up child to develop the design of his room. But what is important – you need to listen to his opinion. If you are not sure that you can accept his ideas, it is better to do everything yourself in neutral colors. All the missing he will add himself – posters, little things all sorts of things.

If with colors you can decide everything yourself, then about the choice of furniture and its arrangement you definitely need to ask the owner of the room. If you do not like the ideas too, try to convince, but without emotion, with arguments. It will not work – do as the boy suggested. They are already forming a masculine character, it must be reckoned with.

If it does work out the way you predicted, don’t say “I told you so.” Just casually suggest that you redo the part you’re not happy with. And, again, do it the way your young man wants it done. They only learn from their mistakes…..

A room for two boys

The most rational option in that case – a double-decker bed. The only difficulty – will have to somehow decide who will sleep upstairs and who will sleep downstairs. This is usually a problem. If the age difference is large, the bottom tier is usually for the younger. And so that they will not be offended, you need to come up with some kind of option to the lower bed. As an option – to attach a plastic slide, make curtains to get something like a game tent…in general, you need bonuses. With a small age difference and one room for two, a schedule is drawn up, which is strictly observed. Otherwise, problems cannot be avoided.

There are other options for the design of the room for 2 boys – to put, for example, two beds with a sleeping place above and with a working one below (called a loft bed). This is in case of fierce competition between children. If they differ significantly in tastes and views, you can design them differently. If this may entail conflicts – it is better to do the same.

If the area allows, you can put two beds or sofas. Only to avoid monotony, it is desirable to make them of different heights or break one large horizontal plane with a partition or a higher dresser, for example.
