How to renovate a 9 meter kitchen

Unfortunately, our apartments rarely boast large areas. And for some unknown reason, kitchens are the most cramped. Although in this room, as a rule, not only cook, but also eat. That is, in fact, it is both a kitchen and a dining room. And for all this is allotted a very small area. Possessors of nine squares are considered almost lucky: there are much smaller rooms. But the repair of the kitchen 9 square meters – a difficult task: you have to allocate and design two zones: working – for cooking, and dining room.

Stages of repair

At first, the repair of the kitchen 9 square meters is not much different from similar rooms of other sizes. The general plan of work looks like this:

• Dismantling of old furniture, finishing materials.

• Replacement of doors.

If you want something original, and the budget is more or less, pay attention to the poured floors. If you don’t like the idea of a photo on the floor, a perfectly level surface with a metallic effect or some other solution may be suitable. This is not a bad substitute for tiles: there are no seams, and moisture-insulating properties are high. In any case, the choice of type of finishing materials – for you. And not only – the floor, but all the rest.

An integral part of the repair of the kitchen 9 square meters is the choice of color design. Kitchen area of 9 squares is average in size: not small, but not yet large. This explains the basics of the layout: you have to favor either a larger working area or a larger dining area. It’s up to you.

Kitchen set on an area of 9 square meters can be made four types:

• Linear. This is the same option, when more meta is allocated to the dining area. In this case, you can put a sofa and quite a decent table with chairs on the other side. But the option with a sofa – for two, maximum – three. If the family is larger, put chairs, sometimes – stools

  

• The letter “G” or angular arrangement. In this case, there are more cabinets and cupboards, as well as working surfaces between appliances: it is more convenient for the hostess to cook. In this option, you can still put a table, but its shape has to be chosen, depending on the geometry of the kitchen and the location of windows and doors.

  

• G-shaped or semi-island layout in the kitchen 9 square meters. m. – This is a venture at the level of aerobatics. The ledge, as a rule, is made in the form of a small bar, leaving the space below free.

  

• U-shaped 9-meter kitchen takes usually also a window sill. In this case, there is not much room for the table and make it most often folding or retractable.

  

Other ways of arrangement on such an area are unacceptable. But these types also provide a lot of options, almost an infinite number.

Orange and beige kitchen

Repair was done in the kitchen of a standard house: series P-43, the kitchen is a little less than 9 squares. It was decided to make the working area along the same wall, just moved the stove and sink.

The budget is “not very”, so we tried to find decent quality things at a low price. We managed to save money on furniture: we ordered just cabinets, without assembly, fittings, countertops, sinks, faucets and most of the filling. All this can be bought separately, at prices much lower than those offered in furniture firms. Installation of all this “farm” – the matter is not too difficult, if you have straight hands turns out no worse.

The ceiling was normally leveled earlier, it was just painted with fresh water emulsion. The choice of materials began with tiles for the kitchen apron (found in OBI). The doors of the kitchen set below will be orange, so bright colors were excluded at once. We decided on white and orange, on white – a few decorative tiles. They successfully present beige tones, which almost exactly match the color of the doors of wall cabinets.

On the walls there, in OBI chose light beige wallpaper: vinyl on fleece. In the neighboring department found a chandelier, which we found attractive. We also bought spotlights there.

In the same store we looked at laminate flooring. Almost the most expensive in price, but in the kitchen cheap just will not fit.

We brought our facade. We ordered it without assembly – to save money. It was neatly packed in cardboard. We started assembling.

Curtain to our design is suitable only roll curtain. It was bought in IKEA. We had to run around with the table and chairs, but as a result we bought them there too. By design I like them very much, and by color – what was there. There was no better at the time.

The little things remained – filling the cabinets. This was found by running through stores selling furniture fittings.

Everything came out relatively inexpensive. This, of course, is not a designer repair, but quite decent.

Interesting repair ideas for kitchen 9 square meters

There are several techniques that you can use, if conditions allow. The layout is different for everyone, as well as the thickness of the walls. And these are often determining conditions.

Kitchen with a balcony

On the one hand, the balcony in the kitchen is great: it can be adapted to your needs. In the past, there made a closet in which to store some supplies. In this case, the balcony is an inconvenience: the kitchen turns out to be passable, which takes away a lot of space In this case, the kitchen is basically a linear type, stands along the longest wall. Opposite, approximately in the middle, put a table, most often – rectangular shape. It is turned with its long side along the wall. In some layouts, this is the only possible option.

Today there is a cardinal solution: the balcony is insulated, the doors and window block are removed, transferring the dining area to the former balcony. The cost of such a conversion is decent: you need to insulate everything: floor, ceiling, walls. Then – put good double-glazed windows. It is also necessary to somehow organize heating: to move the batteries – a long venture with a dubious result (to order a calculation and project, to coordinate it …). It is easier to make electric floor heating. The area is small, with normal insulation bills will be small.

When renovating, it is not even necessary to remove part of the wall that was under the window. This overhang can be turned into a bar.

If this element does not fit into your plans, you can leave this piece as a counter or a cabinet: horizontal surfaces in the kitchen are never superfluous.

If you do not like this option, this “snip” is removed. Note: only him. The walls on the right and left are load-bearing, they can not be affected categorically. Not a centimeter. But even just a neatly designed square opening looks good.

If the U-shaped aperture does not please, you can make an arch, even just round one of the corners and the picture will change.

If the passage to play, make a suspended ceiling, lighting – get a design element that gives the interior of the kitchen a special charm.

What can be done on the balcony / loggia, combined with the kitchen? Anything. You can make the full width of the window is not very wide counter, set there tall but comfortable chairs.

You can do the opposite – put on the loggia or balcony dining table. But for this you will need to remove the very “stump” of the wall, which was under the window. Not a bad solution, by the way.

Someone manages to put on this small space even a sofa. The solution is unorthodox, but, as you can see, it can also be realized.

With the right approach, you can take the refrigerator to the balcony. Usually with its placement there are problems: too oversized thing, which is hard to fit somewhere organically. And often the repair of the kitchen of a small area (9 square meters – it’s not much) stops exactly when looking for a variant of its installation.

Use of the window and windowsill

Not everyone has a balcony in the kitchen, but the majority of people have a window. If desired, and it can be turned into a very functional zone. The first, often used example – replacing the window sill with a countertop. With this option, it is worth making the countertop is quite wide, so that you can cook and eat, if necessary, and arrange a workplace there – a laptop to put and check your mail, drinking coffee.

Some time ago, it was not customary to put kitchen furniture near the window: there are usually radiators there, and it is not a good idea to close them. But it became possible to move radiators – there are lightweight aluminum and bimetallic, and also began to make heating with warm floors. This expands the possibilities of installing furniture: it can be placed at the window.

Sink by the window in the kitchen – this is almost like a classic of the genre. True, the option is not without problems: splashes will be on the glass, and also – difficulties with the transfer of the sewer. Nevertheless, they do it this way.

Another option is to make a cabinet under the window. However, then you can and above and on the sides…It turns out very well, and the space is used 100%.

In the upper cabinets are stacked appliances and dishes that are used only occasionally. We have such, and there are quite a few of them. It turns out very functional. Just pay attention to the fact that the color of the furniture should be light. Otherwise, the cabinets will “press”.

In narrow, long kitchens, under the window you can take out the dining area. The solution is very non-standard, but such a layout is also not often found. Nevertheless, the idea is interesting.
