Choice of color

In the bedroom for a good rest it is necessary to create an environment conducive to relaxation. Psychologists have long known about the impact of colors on the psyche and they even made a table, guided by which you can easily find the colors that are most suitable for the bedroom.

As you can see, the choice for the bedroom is not the widest. But that’s not all. The same psychologists have found that the same color on different surfaces is perceived differently by a person. For example, light green and blue on the walls create a sense of coolness, and on the floor cause a sense of uncertainty and shakiness. To pick up everything competently, consider the following table.

In this table, choose from the column signed “on the side”. If we talk about the bedroom, the most suitable colors of two groups – beige + pink + light yellow and blue + light green + light gray. Only the second group is suitable for sunny rooms facing south and east, and the first for north and west. There are three colors left.

Technology allows you to use different materials that increase the durability of the finish, the durability of colors and allow the walls to wash even with a brush, and not once. It is unlikely that the bedroom will need to wash them, but the fact that the surface can be glossy, matte, even velvety is already interesting. Using wallpaper of the same color, but with a different surface, you can achieve an interesting effect.

So, what are the wallpapers:

• Paper. The most environmentally friendly wallpaper for the bedroom. They can be thin and smooth – single-layer, and can be dense, with a squeezed pattern. Single-layer – it is usually the cheapest, but glue them problematic: when wet they stretch, tear, and even highlight all the existing irregularities on the wall. Multilayer – duplex, triplex – are more expensive, although also belong to the budget options. Work with them easier, and they allow you to hide small irregularities. The disadvantage of paper wallpaper – they burn out quickly, tear easily. Another feature – they are rarely monochrome: too simple look in this case. Of monochrome are mostly found only white – they are glued on the ceiling.

  

• Vinyl wallpaper. A layer of polyvinyl chloride or other similar polymer is applied to a paper or fleeselin base. There are different technologies for applying the vinyl layer, allowing you to get different surfaces, but for the design of the bedroom are interesting usually silkscreen and heavy vinyl. Silkography looks very beautiful on flat walls: the muted shine is very similar to the shine of natural silk. The disadvantage of this type of wallpaper is considered to be that vinyl creates an airtight film, because of which the walls do not breathe. But which of the walls we have now breathe? If only wooden and without insulation. The rest certainly do not breathe, and the normal atmosphere in the rooms is provided by ventilation. So this is not an argument, nevertheless, decide for yourself.

  

• Fleece wallpaper. Fleezelin – non-woven material from a mixture of natural (cellulose) and chemical fibers (polyvinyl chloride). It is used as a base on which a decorative coating is applied. So on the fleezelin base can be and vinyl and paper wallpaper. They differ more convenient gluing: in dry form on the surface lubricated with glue, and – any, even not quite flat. Due to the elasticity and at the same time the strength of the basis level many surface imperfections. Often have a large width of the roll – a meter, which is also convenient – less joints, faster to glue. Their disadvantage – high price: the production technology is more complicated, and the materials themselves are more expensive.

  

• Textile wallpaper. This type of finishing materials belongs already to the medium and high price category. On the basis of paper (cheaper options) or fleeces (more expensive) is applied a layer of natural material – jute fabric, linen, cotton, velour, felt and even silk. Basically their cost is determined by the price of the top layer. The surface depends on the texture of the material, it can look like a cattail – if it is jute wallpaper or linen rough fiber, and can be fluffy, like velour or felt. Since they are made of fabric, there are rolls of large width, such that the entire wall is glued solid canvas. They are also called seamless – the joints will be only in the corners. The disadvantage of these wallpapers – first, the price, secondly, the surface, which can accumulate dust, and thirdly, they poorly tolerate mechanical effects (wiped, torn). But all this is compensated by a very attractive appearance.

  

There is another type of wallpaper – photo wallpaper. This is applied to the basis of photos in large format. Can be printed on wallpaper of any of the above types. There is a solid selection of ready-made images, it is possible to order printing individually – in specialized workshops or advertising agencies.

Just note that if the room is pasted photo wallpaper, the rest of the surface – walls, floor, ceiling – make neutral and monochrome. This wall will be the dominant, everything else is just a background. If the wallpaper is pasted on the wall above the bed, it makes sense to pick up textiles in the same colors. Only hit the shades need to be exact. Then the whole room will look like a whole.

Combined wallpaper for the bedroom

Recent trends in the design of rooms allow you to use in one room several colors, textures or patterns. One of the most simple and yet effective ways – combining wallpaper. If there is no experience, it is easiest to use one collection. But in the presence, usually they are not available, you need to wait for the order, which is not always possible. Then you have to pick up the wallpaper-companions yourself from those that are available. To look harmonious, you need to know some rules:

• Choose wallpaper of the same type and the same thickness, otherwise it will be difficult to dock them.
• Beginners should not use in one room more than two different types of wallpaper.
• Before buying a batch for the whole room, it is better to see samples on the spot. Not always you will be given pieces of wallpaper, and they will not help. You can buy two rolls, if available – already unpacked, and, if possible, arrange for a return or replacement. Home on the wall and see how well they look in your bedroom: lighting plays a very important role. What looks great in the store doesn’t always look good in situ.

There are two ways to choose a good match. The first is a solid-colored basic wallpaper and a pattern on the exact same background. It can be floral or geometric – you choose according to taste. Such wallpaper-companions in the interior of the bedroom always look great.

The second option – opposite colors. For example, on a dark background light pattern and its mirror color reflection – on the light – dark lines. But this – only for two-color combinations. Also a variant that works always.
