Often the existing water supply system in a summerhouse is under-pressurized. This is a common phenomenon if the system is based on a storage tank and flows into the system by gravity. In the best case we have a pressure of 0.8-1 atm. This is not always enough even for a shower, and you can connect a boiler or washing machine only at 2 atm. You can solve the problem in two ways. The first is by installing a pumping station that automatically maintains the set parameters. The method is good, but there is not always the required amount of money. The second way out – a pump built into the system, increasing the pressure in the water pipe in the dacha. This option is much less expensive. About booster pumps and ways of using them and will be discussed further.

Booster pump for dacha: what kind there are
This is a small-sized device that increases the already existing low pressure. That is, they can not create it from scratch. This device is cut into the existing water pipe and pumps up water, raising the pressure by 1-3 atm. There are several types of pressure boosting pumps:
- By cooling type:
- with dry rotor – have higher efficiency, but are noisier and larger in size;
- with wet rotor – the noise level is low, the size is small, but they are not very efficient, although they can cope with pressure increase in the dacha water supply (and not only) 100%.
- According to the method of inclusion:
- By the method of installation:
- horizontally;
- vertically;
- in both positions.
- By availability of speeds:
- single-stage – have one speed of pumping;
- multistage – can work with different intensity, which depends on the flow rate.
- By type of construction:
- in-line – compact, but low-performance models, built into the supply pipeline;
- vortex – productive, but noisy and requiring special strapping.

How to choose
To especially do not get confused, pumping pump for plumbing in the dacha, usually take in-line (built-in) with a wet rotor. This is the most optimal dacha option: low noise, ease of installation.
Type of installation vertical or horizontal – depends on the place where it will be installed. Regarding the speed – better, of course, multi-stage regulation, but such pumps cost a lot, so they are rarely installed in the dacha water supply.
You can also pay attention to the material of the body. It can be cast iron or stainless steel. Of stainless steel, of course, better, but more expensive. It is necessary to pay attention to the material from which the pump impeller is made. In the cheapest models, it can be made of plastic, in more expensive models – of bronze or brass.
Technical characteristics their meaning
First of all, you need to remember that the pump works from electricity, and it needs a normal power supply. Basically, they are demanding to the voltage. If, suddenly, the selected booster pump does not produce the required pressure, check the voltage. Perhaps it is low and the required power of operation is simply not achieved.
The main technical characteristics that determine whether the pump increasing the pressure in the water supply at the cottage with the task is the maximum working pressure. This is the value at which the output can give the equipment.
These characteristics are also important:
We draw your attention to the fact that the maximum values are usually indicated. To find out the real indicators, divide the declared parameters by 2. Then you will not be mistaken.
It is also important – at what value of the flow turns on the automatic booster pump for dacha. Values can be different: and 0.12 l/min and 0.3 l/min. From this figure depends on whether the pump will be turned on when, for example, the tank is filled in the toilet, or it will start working only after opening the faucet in the shower.
A few words about what modes should work pump increasing the pressure in the water supply at the cottage. It is best to take those models that can work both in manual and automatic mode. Here’s why: not all discharge points create the flow rate required for automatic inclusion. If the device will have only automatic mode, you will not help the trouble. But if it can be switched to manual – you turn it on before use and enjoy a normal pressure. You just need to remember to turn it off.
The next parameter is the maximum and nominal power, measured in watts (W). Indicates how productive the motor drives the impeller. In principle, the more powerful the pump, the more pressure it is able to provide, but much depends on the design and materials used.
The temperature of the working medium. It is measured in degrees. Here everything is more or less clear. There are pumps for increasing pressure only for cold water, there are for hot water. This and displays this indicator.
Den connection dimensions are also important. Installation of the booster pump is carried out in a cut – a piece of pipe is cut out, on this place with the help of fittings the device is installed. The size of the connecting nuts should ideally correspond to the diameter of the pipe.

Installing a pump that increases water pressure
The place of installation of pumps depends on the specific situation. For the normal operation of the faucet and shower, it is enough to put a pump at the outlet of the storage tank, if we are talking about such a system. If you want to put a boiler or washing machine in the dacha, other devices that are demanding to pressure, most likely you will have to put in front of them. With sufficient power (with sufficient flow), one pump may be enough for two devices. Only then it is necessary to think through the scheme accordingly.
In any case, when developing the scheme, provide for the possibility of removing or bypassing the pump. This is done by means of a bypass (in the bypass should be a shut-off valve).
Installing several low-power booster pumps is not always the best idea. In this case, it may be worth considering more powerful and efficient models that can stabilize the pressure at high flow rates. Some of them even provide for lifting water from a well or reservoir, replacing the pumping station in a sense.

Pumping station to increase pressure
This output is very convenient, but not very cheap, although there are inexpensive models (for example, Jileks Jambo units cost from 130$). These installations can lift water from a well or a well, but you can lower the suction hose and into the tank. Then the storage tank can stand anywhere, not necessarily on top.
Their plus is that the pressure is maintained constantly, without human intervention (as long as there is electricity). The main thing is to choose the right parameters. They can even be used to increase pressure when connected to the centralized water supply. If you have such an option at your dacha:
Everything can be fixed by putting a volumetric tank (liters for 1000) and a pumping station. You will have a supply of water and a shower at any time you wish. For irrigation, such a tank may not be enough, but no one prevents you from putting a larger one or a few smaller ones. About the choice and installation of a pumping station read here.
